Contemporary Style Design
Contemporary style encompasses a range of styles developed in the latter half of the 20th century. Furniture pieces feature softened and rounded lines as opposed to the stark lines seen in Modern Design. Contemporary designs contain neutral and natural elements, sometimes with bold color.
At its core, the word “contemporary” means “of the moment”. That is what makes this style particularly hard to define. You will see nods to modern, traditional and art deco. The other definite point of contemporary design is that it’s constantly evolving. Unlike other styles which are more or less set in stone, what’s “of the moment” today may change in a few years’ time. Today, the look is defined by curved lines, neutral colors and minimalism, but it may look slightly different in the future.
